Feministo began as a postal art event suggested by artist Kate Walker to Birmingham Women’s Art group in 1975. Women sent small pieces of art to one another in the post that spoke of their experiences as women, wives and mothers and of their perception of themselves in a man’s world. We invited our friends outside the group to join in. These works became a collection and went on to be exhibited in venues in Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Edinburgh, Berlin, Melbourne and Sydney and the ICA London.
