Dr Fionna Barber is Reader Emeritus in Art History at the Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University. She has published extensively on Irish women’s art since the 1980s and most recently co-edited The Routledge Companion to Irish Art (2025) and is the author of Art in Ireland since 1910 (Reaktion 2013). She is also an occasional curator, including Elliptical Affinities: Irish Women Artists and the Politics of the Body 1984 to the present (Highlanes Gallery Drogheda and Limerick City Gallery, Ireland 2019-2020).Fionna was both a founder member of WAAG, and a member of the initial group of women who started the Pavilion Women’s Photography Gallery in Leeds.
