Margaret Harrison

Margaret Harrison is an artist based in Cumbria, UK and San Francisco, USA, whose work is based on subjects and issues relating to women’s lived experiences. Although Harrison was trained in traditional skills of drawing and painting, she broadened her practice to include texts, installations, and photography. She has worked collaboratively with factory workers, homeworkers, and sex-workers as well as with her late partner the artist Conrad Atkinson. Her work has been shown internationally and most recently in Women in Revolt: Art and Activism in Britain 1970–1990which toured from Tate Britain, London to the National Gallery of Scotland, Edinburgh and the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester. Photo by Conrad Atkinson.
