Moira Vincentelli

Moira Vincentelli studied at Edinburgh University and taught art history full-time at Aberystwyth University in Wales for over forty years.  From the 1970s she became involved in the burgeoning feminist movement which shaped her academic interests and commitment to activist and community activities. In the early 1980s she undertook a survey of women artists in Wales culminating in a touring exhibition in 1984. Her research interests increasingly focused on gender and the applied arts. From the mid 1970s she had responsibility for the contemporary ceramic collection at Aberystwyth which developed alongside the biennial International Ceramics Festival established in 1987. She has curated many exhibitions and published widely on gender and World ceramics from South African potters to Welsh dresser display. In 2017, she completed an MA in Fine Art, going on to make new artwork. Among her publications are Women and Ceramics, Gendered Vessels (2000) and Women Potters, Transforming Traditions (2003).
